About Me

Hi, my name is Angela! In 2018, I decided to turn my hobby that I have so much passion for, into my every day, dream job by founding Southern Dust Photography. I love capturing images to visually illustrate emotional stories and fond memories.

Discovering my passion

I first discovered my passion when I was a little girl. I ALWAYS has some type of camera glued to my hand. Whether it was my pink Kodak camera or my Polaroid, I was constantly “documenting by photographing” everything. From the mundane, everyday life events starring my family and friends, to the special memories we all shared together.

When I am able to physically hold a single memory frozen forever in my hands, I take a brief moment to get in my personal time machine and be transported back in time to relive, experience and most of all, appreciate every second. Each image cues a flood of all of the same emotions that I experienced that very same moment I pushed the capture button.

Every image is a true treasure for me; just like a pirate and gold. No matter what happens to my memory as the years go by, I will forever have my treasures to cherish and bring me back to familiar lands.

Experience

As I navigated high school and pondered what my future held, I always felt a continuously strong pull towards photography; similar to the way the moon pulls on the Earth. I continued to snap pictures as a hobby with the dream of one day it turning into a way of supporting myself and my future family.

After high school graduation, I attended Savannah College for Art and Design. This is where I obtained my Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Photography. I have since worked with a few distinguished photographers, leading me to photograph the former mayor of Savannah, many weddings and even more family portraits!

My absolute favorite thing to capture through a lens is emotion. I strive for every gallery I deliver to exhibit each family’s love for one another above all, but to also showcase each person’s unique personalities. Love is something I feel very deeply because I am an empath. You will see this in my work, as it is very apparent.

Having been raised in the south, my hope for all my clients is that they feel welcomed by my southern charm and in turn, made to feel comfortable, empowered and confident.

Southern Dust Photography was founded to not be a style or version of myself, but rather to represent my roots and the way the south has raised me; With kindness and sweetness perfectly balanced by sass and a little bit of kicking up dust!
